We are all acquainted with the proverbial rivalry between cats and dogs that gives a cliché about their relationship. But this is a completely different kind of story, it’s lovely and it proves that we should soon forget prejudices because animals are much more complex beings than we perceived.
Unknown to many, cheetahs are also listed as “nervous” beings though they possess both majestic and dangerous appearance. Cheetahs are well-known for its vicious and dangerous characteristics, but they also have a far softer and more reserved side that often gets in the way of them socializing with each other. That’s way they have a problem to breed as it increases its stress level and has knock on effect on them reproducing which negatively impacts an animal whose species is in decline and already considered vulnerable.
But fortunately, zoo keepers found an amazing and completely incredible solution in the most unexpected form… man’s best friend.
Cheetahs who are living in the zoos are introduced to new friends- buddies- cheetahs’ “emotional support”– dogs from whom they learn how to relax and adopt their model of behavior. Cheetahs look to the dog for cues and model its behavior and over time adopts the dogs’ happy-go-lucky vibe. These dogs will help cheetahs feel more relaxed and more likely to reproduce. Not only are dogs cheetahs’ “emotional support”, but also their best friends who are always there to run around and play with them.
For all those dog lovers out there, you definitely know too well just how much of a stress reliever dogs can be, not just to pet but the companionship they offer and the happy vibe they give off.
Let’s checkout how adorable they are together in the photos below!
Cheetahs are instinctively shy and socially awkward animals – the opposite to dogs.
Which is why dogs are the best experts in helping others relax.
And the more relaxed the cheetahs are…
The more chance there is of them procreating!
And there will be more beautiful friendships between dogs and cheetahs.
